THE CHALLENGE

  • After SSC placed the Founder & CEO, there was a need for a true technical leader and product owner for this innovative startup.

  • The CEO initially posted the open position on job boards such as LinkedIn, Indeed, etc. yielding 300+ applicants; however, none of the 300+ candidates met the basic requirements.

  • The CEO was searching for a truly unique profile:

    • A current CTO who still codes frequently

    • Required a CS degree

    • Experience with early-stage startups,

    • Experience building teams from 0 to 1

    • Someone who has an affinity for or experience with climate tech/proptech.

  • This was an onsite position with below-market compensation for the Bay Area.

OUR SOLUTION

  • SSC utilized a very specific headhunting approach to ensure all of the CEO’s requirements would be met.

  • SSC produced a shortlist of 15 candidates who underwent a 5-step interview process including a technical coding assessment.

  • The shortlist cohort resulted in 3 finalists giving the CEO options to choose for this crucial hire.

  • The candidate selected for the position was a diverse candidate who met every single requirement specified by the CEO.
