VP of Brand Marketing

Situation:

Our client had worked with multiple agencies in the past, sometimes hiring 3 or more to work on a single search. For this critical hire, they needed to control the messaging to the market, and wanted the dedication of one firm, committed to working on the search until it was complete. Importantly, because this paradigm-shifting product had no competition, and no predecessor, they needed to partner with a talent firm that truly understood their technology, and could easily convey that tech’s purpose to the talent pool. 

Our Approach:

Knowing that the client wanted a “challenger” type of marketing leader, SSC researched some of the more memorable, surprising, even shocking marketing campaigns of the last decade, and what teams brought those messages and images to life (think: Super Bowl commercial-level innovators). We then approached the market with a simple question: can you bring this level of excitement to the lifesciences space? 

Most said no, but a few said absolutely. We produced a well-vetted longlist of 83 candidates, and ultimately submitted 13 candidates. 

Result:

Client hired their #1 choice and he ushered in a new age of marketing, messaging and growth for our client, leading to new paying customers and a new round of funding.
