A Critical Vacancy, a Complex Mandate: Replacing a Key Engineering Leader at a Pivotal Moment
When Emerald Cloud Lab’s long-standing VP of Engineering departed, the leadership team faced an urgent challenge: finding a highly specialized leader who could step into a role central to both day-to-day execution and long-term strategy.
The stakes were high.
The next VP would need to bridge the gap between scientific development and engineering, foster a culture of continuous improvement and business rigor, and lead a deeply technical, high-performing team—all while partnering closely with the Founders and Co-CEOs in a rapidly evolving, innovation-driven environment.

Our rigorous multi-stage interview process, which included initial phone and video interviews, ensured only the best candidates progressed to client meetings.
SSC conducted 71 in-depth assessments and presented 25 highly qualified candidates for the shortlist.
Collaborating closely with our client through an extensive technical evaluation, we identified 2 outstanding finalists.
An offer was made to an exceptional candidate with three successful exits in cutting-edge technology startups and former leadership experience at IBM.
